Mattress brand and Skill Music host first sleep concert in real beds

Mattress Manufacturer Emma hosts the first Sleep Concert in real beds at the legendary Meistersaal Studio in Berlin.

Premiere of the Sleep Album "Scores of Sleep Vol. I" Written Using Thousands of Spotify Data on World Sleep Day. Sleep Music generates Billions of Streams on Spotify and Helps People Fall Asleep Better.

Falling asleep, especially after the daylight saving time change, is becoming an increasing problem for many people. As a result, sleep music is gaining more popularity. Last year alone, songs designed to aid sleep were streamed several billion times on Spotify and other platforms.

Emma, the European mattress manufacturer that bases its products entirely on science, commissioned one of the most prestigious music productions to write sleep music according to scientific standards and test it live. After a nine-month research phase, analysing several thousand songs in collaboration with Spotify and composing the sleep album "Scores of Sleep Vol. I," 40 journalists were invited to test it on March 15th at the legendary Meistersaal in Berlin.

In the historic studio, where Marlene Dietrich once recorded and David Bowie wrote 'Heroes,' an attempt was made to induce deep sleep in the audience using live music over three hours. The attempt was successful. The ensemble of pianist Brüggemann, electronic artist Rosbeh, and the Classic Echo winners 'Kaiser Quartett' managed to bring the assembled hall into one of the three sleep phases within 90 minutes.

The responsible composer from Hamburg, Torben Brüggemann (SKILL Music), primarily known for his work on countless brand campaigns, was surprised by the result:

"I must confess, I didn't think anyone would actually sleep at a live concert in a room with so many other people... but we had to wake some up almost forcefully after the end."

Many journalists, especially those working in shift patterns, are all too familiar with sleep problems. Time changes, especially permanent ones, are a major challenge for the sleep rhythm. Those who need to sleep at 6am after a night shift reach for any helping straw. Sleep music seems to have established itself here. The three biggest Spotify playlists on the topic alone have over one million listeners, and the songs have billions of streams. Dominic Walker, responsible at Emma, says:

"We have been able to help four million people in Germany sleep with one of our mattresses and are scratching at one billion euros in sales this year. It's time to give something back. In the end, we want to be the company that helps people wake up in their best form."

The over 30 mattresses and beds that Emma had to bring into the Meistersaal for this event were subsequently donated to the Berlin Furniture Donation Warehouse, also helping people with limited financial means to get a better sleep.

The concept of this sleep concert, a combination of science, music, and comfort, is an innovative approach to meet the growing needs of a society with sleep problems. The collaboration between Emma and Skill Music highlights the potential of interdisciplinary projects that bring together the artistic and scientific worlds to find solutions for everyday problems.
