TAXI Canada campaign ignites the 2023/24 hockey season with WPP’s Open X

As Canada's hockey season is set into motion, Coca Cola Zero Sugar rolls out its latest campaign, capturing the action of the sport and the sheer excitement leading up to each game's final seconds. This national campaign, produced in collaboration with TAXI, a component of WPP's  Open X, showcases hockey as more than just a pastime in Canada - it's a defining aspect of Canadian culture. 

From the exhilarating action on the ice to the communal joy of watching games with friends and family, the spirit of hockey runs deep. Coca-Cola recognises this passion and introduces ‘Best Coke Ever' a bespoke Canada campaign that captures the true adrenaline rush of being a hockey fan. 

'Best Coke Ever' comes to life in a dynamic 30-second film showcasing intimate vignettes that capture Canadians' love for hockey. From devoted fans at local arenas to gatherings at home with friends and family, the film immerses viewers in the emotional rollercoaster of the hockey season. 

Jacques Blanchet, senior manager of integrated marketing experience at The Coca-Cola Company, emphasises the intent behind the campaign, stating, "This campaign embodies the unyielding passion Canadians have for hockey. Coca Cola is privileged to celebrate alongside Canadians for the hockey season. We hope that our involvement and this campaign will bring a refreshing and uplifting touch to every hockey lover's experience." 

Graham Lang, chief creative officer at TAXI, expressed the essence of this campaign, saying, "This film is an ode to the heart-pounding moments when the game clock strikes 00:00. These moments bring fans together, and throughout the game, Coca-Cola is there to refresh and share in the excitement.” 

The campaign encompasses a range of digital banners, social media placement, and out-of-home advertisements, and a TV spot. 

Media planning and buying for the campaign were handled by EssenceMediacom, also a part of WPP's Open X. 

As the hockey season revs up, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar is gearing up to be the premier beverage choice for savouring every moment.
