Kingsday goes behind the scenes at an all-male casting session for Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk

Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk and Kingsday have launched a series of casting tapes to introduce a new campaign called #Favouriteflower. It’s an initiative by the Flower Council of Holland to promote the idea that giving or receiving a bunch of your favourite flowers means so much more than flowers picked at random.

When you give someone their favourite flower, a normal bouquet becomes a personal gift. The Favourite Flower campaign brings this idea to life by engaging another thing that women are often quite fond of: attractive men.

The campaign includes a series of tongue-in-cheek films showing just what it’s like to attend a casting session with a series of attractive men - who just might have been selected for their looks rather than their acting skills. The would-be actors are made to introduce themselves on film and try out their lines, while obviously trying to impress the (real) female casting director.

“The statement we’re making with this campaign is that when you give someone their favourite flower, a normal bouquet is transformed into a personal gift. Our previous Favourite Flower campaign in 2012 featured implausibly good looking male ‘flower boys’ helping consumers to pick their favourite flower.” Says Bram de Rooij, Creative Director at Kingsday. “So many people joked that they want to be at the next casting session, that we used this as the insight for this year’s campaign.”
