Adrienne will oversee talent, operations, IT and human resources for the award-winning creative agency

The Martin Agency announced today that Adrienne Wright Cleveland has been appointed chief operating and culture officer. Adrienne will report to CEO Danny Robinson in this promotion effective March 28, 2024. Adrienne will be assuming duties from Carmina Drummond, a 35-year Martin veteran who held numerous roles at the agency, last serving as chief culture officer.

With a unique background that traverses for-profit, non-profit and redemptive entrepreneurship, Adrienne first joined Martin in February of 2023 as managing director, head of talent and culture. Over the last year, she has been ushering in a new era of leadership in the areas of IT, operations, human resources and recruiting - working to evolve and create a culture that attracts and retains industry-leading talent who want to make work that impacts the wider world.

Adrienne’s promotion marks the first leadership appointment under The Martin Agency’s new CEO, Danny Robinson, who assumed the role in January of this year.

“The industry is going through profound change. We needed someone who would understand and protect what’s always been special about Martin, while bringing imagination and innovation to the things that have to evolve to meet an ever-changing workforce and category,” said Danny. “With her unique background across many sectors, Adrienne is already reimagining what the talent pipeline can and should look like and better ways to attract the best and brightest, while ensuring they are set up for success when they get here.”

Adrienne’s career has spanned the corporate, small business and non-profit sectors, equipping her with a profound understanding of talent acquisition, recruitment, leadership development, organisational growth strategy, and, most notably, a passion for community-driven collaboration. In tandem with her role at Martin, Adrienne sits on the board of directors for Venture Richmond where she joins other prominent leaders in partnering with the city to make Richmond a great place to work and play.

“Martin has built a culture that puts our people and creativity at the forefront - a framework for success that will only evolve as we continue to innovate our approach to work and culture within the agency at large,” said Adrienne. She continued, “It’s a unique opportunity to not only propel our agency but to set a best-in-class operating example for the industry - one that prioritises our people at scale.”

Adrienne will fulfil her duties at the agency’s headquarters in Richmond, Virginia, continuing to aid the creative shop in their mission to fight invisibility.
