RUN THIS TOWN (SUMMARY):

Set in Barbados, we hear Rihanna's "Run This Town" playing off the speakers of a school bus as it pulls to a stop. A little girl hops off, and runs home where she sees her aunt braiding a neighbor's hair. The girl slyly steals her aunts' sunglasses before heading towards the street — Rihanna Drive.

Inspired by the song’s powerful lyrics, she becomes imbued with a sense of authority and an aura of cool as she takes her first steps.

Strutting down the street, this simple journey down her tiny island road is now transformed into a sonic and visual one with every step, action, and character connected to the different elements of the song.

She stops at the local cemetery, a vibrant space for everyone in the community to come together. Seeing the kites in the air, she joins her friends and reverts back to her childlike wonder.

STAY (SUMMARY):

To celebrate Rihanna’s return at the first-ever Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, we created a film inspired by one of Rihanna’s most iconic hits, “Stay,” in a way that felt true to both Rihanna and Apple Music as a brand.

Driven by the simple, emotional chords of a solo piano, ‘Stay,’ features a stirring rendition of the Rihanna track — performed by a diverse range of the biggest super fans from all 32 NFL teams. Over a dark background with dramatic lighting, we first see Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, Big Nasty, sing the song’s first line. As the song continues, fans from all teams join in — from Atlanta Falcon’s Birdlady to Kansas City Chiefs’ Weirdwolf. All diverse in clothing, makeup, backgrounds and style, exuding the intense passion of what it means to be a fan, both of the NFL and Rihanna.

DIAMONDS (SUMMARY):

‘Diamonds’ is a visual portrait of NYC hip hop jeweler, ASAP Eva, as she meticulously crafts a series of diamond pendants in celebration of Rihanna’s return to the Superbowl stage. Set to Rihanna’s anthemic Diamonds track, the film serves as a spotlight on a self-made, respected Chinese immigrant in parallel to Rihanna’s own self-made immigrant journey.

POSE (SUMMARY):

Ballroom is the home and heart of queer culture--locally, to its origins in NYC, and globally. Set at a Rihanna-inspired ball, ‘Pose’ details the energy, glamour and life of a ball.

Outside the ball, an emcee chants. Inside, everyone prepares. Rihanna’s song 'Pose' pulses through the backstage as community members finalise their looks.

The ballroom category assignment is ‘Rihanna Realness’ and the contestants serve it beautifully. Replicating some of Rihanna’s most iconic looks, they pump down the runway fiercely and vogue effortlessly. The crowd goes wild, fanning themselves to cheer on the contestants and cool down the heat of the excitement.

All together, the best looks of the night strike a pose.
