ALDI ditches tradition and sets a Christmas pudding on fire this holiday season, writes LBB’s Zoe Antonov
Australia is taking coming out of hibernation seriously, and this year’s ALDI Christmas campaign is here to prove it. Birds inside birds, neon Christmas raves, open fire and literally levitating over the Christmas table are only a handful of scenes that are expected to happen not only in Australia, but all over the world this holiday season as we all try to remember what ‘normal’ feels like. Instead of turning to heartfelt advertising and depicting the shaky steps we are all taking towards getting together again, BMF bet on helping ALDI shoppers finally embrace the long-awaited moment of ‘letting loose.’
Christmas seems to really be happening – in a quite different tone, but just as creative, as Lowe’s reminds us about the impulse to nest and warm up your home before the holidays. While elsewhere a mother’s Christmas desire for her son to experience his teenage years to the max are depicted in a spot for German grocery store PENNY. These spots, among many other campaigns offer audiences a new outlook on the holiday season after nearly two years of uncertainty.
Of course, we also can’t forget about the non-Christmas work – underrepresentation of Indigenous beauty in the media, sustainable farming, and online love stories. Check out more of this week’s amazing work below.
