Indianapolis-based agency, The Basement, announced today its expansion into PR capabilities and the appointment of Beth Clayton to oversee the agency’s new department.

Beth, who resides in Louisville, joins as director of strategic communications with nearly 15 years of experience from all corners of the journalism and public relations sectors. Previously, Beth was vice president of public relations at branding agency, Bandy Carroll Hellige, where she led communication strategy for a variety of consumer-facing brands, both locally and nationally. Earlier in her career, Beth served as a reporter and editor for a variety of publications, most notably at Indianapolis Monthly magazine, where she held the title of associate editor, covering the food and dining scene.

“I’m eager to bring my experience to the table and develop this program, bridging The Basement’s data-driven approach to the untapped earned media sector,” said Beth. “The new service will round out our capability to offer clients a truly full-service approach to their marketing and communications needs. I can only see growth in our future given the agency’s stronghold in the region paired with this important need for brands.”

“Beth’s addition is levelling up the agency and bringing us into the next chapter of our story,” said Conrad Edwards, CEO. “We couldn’t be more proud to have her join our team and enhance what we are offering brands.”

The move comes at a time when the agency is seeing growth from nearly everywhere.

New business wins in 2020 totalled six new accounts, and in 2021 so far, the agency has added an additional six. Those clients include: Indiana University (media agency of record), IndyCar (media agency of record), International School of Indiana (agency of record), Vyne Dental, Purdue Research Foundation and more.

New hires include additions to all agency departments. The Creative team has grown by six with the hiring of: Burton Runyan, senior copywriter; Meagan Greene, designer; Michael Thaman, senior art director; Kevin Marshall, UX director; Ashley Allegretti, Jr. UX designer; Chase Mitchell, designer. The Media, Insights & Technology department has added: Taylor Imus, campaign manager; Megan Rush, campaign coordinator; Sam Hobbs, marketing analyst; Sarah Tucker, associate marketing analyst; Tom Otero, marketing platforms and operations manager. Client services has hired: Sarah Anderson, senior digital project; Molly Ray, digital project coordinator; Shayla Smith, digital project manager; Kendall Mason, account executive.

The agency’s management team has grown as well with the addition of a director of people and process, Jenn Knapp. Since joining the agency earlier this year, Jenn has taken great strides in enhancing employee benefits and learning and development opportunities.

“The cumulative talent of these individuals has greatly enhanced our ability to serve our clients and deliver impactful work,” said Conrad. “The Basement is entering into a really exciting period of growth, and I’m thrilled with the direction we are heading.”
