Shell's Iconic Eco-Marathon America's 2023 Returns

Imagination helped Shell transform the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway into the Shell Eco-Marathon Americas 2023. This innovative academic program invites students from all over North and South America to compete to create the most energy-efficient vehicles of the future through virtual challenges and on-track competitions.

Over the course of five days, hundreds of visitors came to watch these American Changemakers of Tomorrow present their breakthrough innovations. Having previously worked with Shell on the 2018 Shell Eco-marathon Americas, our team was excited to partner up again to support Shell’s mission of powering progress by providing more and cleaner energy solutions.

New this year was the Shell Next-Gen racing app developed by Imagination, where fans could design and pilot their own vehicles with combustion, fuel cell and electric engines, and test their skills in a variety of fun challenges.

This year, 65 teams of high school and university STEM students from six countries took part and put their future-forward theories into action. The event caught the interest of a number of international news outlets, and received thousands of likes across social media channels.

From ideation through to design and execution, our team worked with Shell to create an unforgettable event with stunning graphics, photo opportunity walls and engaging activations. Visitors were able to learn more about the race and competing teams on dynamic LED screens located throughout the site.
