The Addiction Recovery Support & Employment Service worked with Juniper Park\TBWA to renew awareness of their offering to Ontarians

You may not have heard of Oasis Movement until now, and that’s a good thing. Oasis Movement has been active helping Ontarians with addiction recovery support and employment services since 1992. As they spend their time and funding to support the communities they work in, they have spent little to no marketing dollars over the years. Through a pro bono offering from the team at Juniper Park\TBWA, a global Toronto-based creative brand experience company, Oasis Movement has launched their ‘Hire a Quitter’ campaign alongside an updated logo and visual identity.

The two main goals Oasis Movement and Juniper Park\TBWA worked towards with this campaign are to educate people about Oasis Movements offering for addiction recovery and employment services as well as inspiring people suffering from addiction to reach out for help. As Oasis Movement has little mass awareness of the services they offer, the goal of getting their name out there was paramount.

In a series of four :15s animated shorts, the ‘Hire a Quitter’ campaign aims to illustrate the journey through addiction recovery. Using the magic of animation, the campaign tells inspiring stories of positive transformation inspired by the local communities Oasis Movement works in.

"We worked closely with the people at Oasis who had been through the program to ensure our stories and tone reflected truthful experiences. Our campaign line, ‘Hire a quitter,’ has a nice, unexpected hook, but there’s also so much truth packed into that line. Because addiction can take over people’s lives and can be so difficult to control, and the people who are taking steps towards addiction recovery have shown that they have all the characteristics listed in our films: dedication, courage, commitment, perseverance. Traits that every employer looks for in a job applicant." said Jason Lee & Derek Silveria, associate creative directors, Juniper Park\TBWA.

‘Hire A Quitter’ takes the long, complicated and nuanced process of addiction recovery and simplifies it in a way that, we hope, makes it feel achievable. This optimistic portrayal of recovery, along with the help Oasis Movements support services provide, aim to make these short films feel empowering to those struggling with addiction.

“These are the kinds of success stories Oasis helps write every day. They’re all based in truth. People working through addiction recovery and striving to get their lives back on track. And for many, a big part of that is finding a job. But the real-life stories can be very complicated, and I think the magic of these spots is how simple we’re able to tell them. The journey we can take people on in 15 seconds is so powerful. And hopefully inspirational to others who are going through tough moments.” said Jason Lee & Derek Silveria, associate creative directors, Juniper Park\TBWA.

“The Oasis Addiction Recovery Society is tremendously grateful to Juniper Park/TBWA, for their time, creativity and collaborative efforts in coming up with the ‘Hire A Quitter’ campaign. The team was able to successfully depict that courage, determination, perseverance and long-term commitment can lead to lifelong success in overcoming addiction. It has been and continues to be our long-held belief that “Change is ALWAYS Possible”. Our mandate is to help those in recovery from drug and/or alcohol addictions become productive members of society with workshops in life and employment skills, and assistance in finding viable employment. With the right support, education, encouragement and meaningful work, people continue to change their lives for the better. The Oasis team is here to help anyone struggling and looking to change their lives. Please reach out if you or anyone you know is in need, we are here to help.” said the Oasis Addiction Recovery Society.

The campaign is out now in Ontario with a series of four :15s animated spots and a refreshed brand logo/identity across social and web. You can find additional information on this campaign here
