Mobius Awards Announces Best of Show Shortlist

Thirteen entries in the 2019 Mobius Awards are nominated for Best of Show (Grand Prix). The entries are in Package Design, Brand Identity, Commercials and Outdoor. The Grand Prix winners will be announced January 21th.

Package Design Nominees

• Mountain Tea – Song, by Lin Shaobin Design, Shantou, Guangdong, China, for advertiser Guangzhou Zifang Enterprises, Guangzhou. These high mountain teas, based on the culture of Song Chinese Dynasty, feature light to strong concentrations, charcoal baked. Three colours are used for the packaging. A burned mark design is scanned from a real firing mark and then embossed by laser engraving to present layers of mountains. The burned mark reflects the texture of the Chinese ink painting and expresses the kinds of charcoal baked teas. Last, the three colours of packaging are placed in a gift box that, when opened, shows abstract paintings of flying cranes, high mountains and a moon at night.

• Shangri-La Constellation Collection 2019, from Design Bridge Asia Pte Ltd, Singapore, for advertiser Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd, Hong Kong, features packaging for a Mooncakes Gifting Box distributed during a mid-autumn festival. Executive creative director is Tim Siro; senior designer, Christie Widjaja; visualiser, Dea Jovita; 3D designer director, Aaron Lim, and designer, Elysa Tan. 

• Long Yin Wedding Feast Wine, from Shenzhen Baixinglong Creative Packaging Co., Ltd, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, for Chengde Qianlongzui Spirits Co., Ltd. Neptune Design Team, Shenzhen, drew on the split strokes of Chinese characters in creating the look. Production company is Shenzhen Baixinglong Creative Packaging Co. 

• Uovo ('egg' in Italian) is from Denomination, Ultimo, NSW, Australia, for winemaker Larry Cherubino, Perth. Creative director is Margaret Nolan; Finished Art by Lloyd Richards. Client service leader is Rowena Curlewis. The wine is matured in giant concrete egg-shaped containers; the target market is ages 25-45. 

• Wakefield The Legacy, another nominee from Denomination, is a design for Wakefield Wines, Sydney. Creative director is Margaret Nolan; design director, Clayton Andrews, and finished art by Peter Bradley. Client service representative is Anita Burrough. This design was aimed at 'Luxurians,' high income earners between 35 and 55 who consider themselves connoisseurs of wine. 

Brand Identity Nominees

• McDonald’s - Visual Identity System, from Turner Duckworth: London, San Francisco, New York, San Francisco, Calif., are for McDonald's, Chicago, and use the theme of a 'golden company with red accents.' The project was led by global chief creative officer Sarah Moffat, assisted by design director Tyler Brooks, lead designer Hannah Steinberg and designers Loren Schott, Hollis Callas, Oliver Lo, and Sydney Bradshaw. Typography is by Dalton Maag. Production director is Craig Snelgrove; production artist, Jeff Ensslen; implementation director, Liisa Turan-Walters; implementation designer, Sara Scanlan, and account directors, Wyeth Whiting, D’Arcy Danaher. Reach Creative is Digital Hub Partner. 

• Blood, Sweat and Ideas Poster from Williams Murray Hamm, London, promotes an anthology documenting 20 years of Williams Murray Hamm’s (WMH) dedication to the creative industry. Creative director Garrick Hamm led a team of Becki Sewell as designer; Mark Nichols for book design, and visualiser Jason Budgen. Production is by Mark Tosey with writing from Richard Williams. Production is by Park Communications, United Kingdom.

Nominees in Commercials

• 'Volvo E.V.A', entered by post-production company Goodbye Kansas Studios, Stockholm, Sweden, is a commercial from Volvo, Stockholm, targeting the car development industry and all riders with a message on how to avoid hidden hazards. Executive producer is Anton Söderhäll; VFX producer, Linda Öhlund; VFX supervisor, Joel Lindman; CG director and creative, Laurent Clermont, and FX Lead, Filip Orrby. Goodbye Kansas Studios is the post-production company. 

• 'NDU Tianjin Dredging' from Dans Digital, Tianjin, China, promotes a video about the world-famous dredger ship Tian Jing Hao, the masterpiece of CCCC Tianjin Dredging. The creation team is director, Bohong Deng; executive producers: Cuimin Zhou, Yan Jiang, Guibing Xu, Yucheng Chen and Liling Gao; Editor, Yuping Duan; visual FX: Jinliang Jiang, Quan Li, Haixiang Hong; Layout: Hongming Xiang Minsheng Lin, Jujun Zhang, Junwen Xu, Xiaozhen Cheng, Rongxiang Yang, Leisi Feng, and Zhijing Sun. http://www.dans.com.cn/en/

• 'UBISOFT - Ghost Recon Breakpoint' from production company Frenzy Paris, Paris, was done for UBISOFT, France, and entered in the Cinematography category. This film is the trailer of the last Ghost Recon video game named 'Breakpoint.' The agency is DDB, Paris with Clément Oberlin as art director; Corinne Persch as head of TV production and Jerome Deplatiere as agency post producer. Frenzy Paris director is Vellas; producer, Capucine Charbonnier; producer/director, Julien Berlan; production coordination, Lara Deweerdt; director of photography, Khalid Mohtaseb; decoration chef, production designer, Pablo Tregebov; 1st AD, Flavio Lanfredi; and service producer, Nikita Bukowski. Music is by Criminal with Sound Design from 750 nph. Post-production company is Mikros MPC Advertising, Paris, with editor Maxime Pozzi, post-production supervisor Wassila Kailali, and Mikros post producer Lionel Juglair. Visual FX is from Mikros MPC Advertising, Paris, with supervisor of VFX, Jao M’Changama, and post-producer VFX, Nicolas Huguet. 

Outdoor/Out-Of-Home Nominees

• 'PETA - Eating Meat Kills More Animals Than You Think' from fischerAppelt AG, Hamburg, Germany agency, is done for PETA Deutschland e.V., Berlin. creative directors are David Morales and Philip Bolland with senior art director, Claudia Kuprat; managing director, Johannes Buzasi, and copywriters Dorothee Goetz and Jonas Bartelworth. Illusion, Bangkok, Thailand, did design, production, post-production and Visual FX. 

• 'KeepLivingCoral' from White Rabbit Budapest, Budapest, Hungary, uses the 2019 Pantone colour pick of Living Coral to bring attention to the current dangers to the world’s coral reefs. The reefs are crucial to healthy marine ecosystems. This work, for WWF Hungary, is led by chief creative officers Istvan Bracsok and Levente Kovacs. Team members are art directors Marcos Mendes Tanaka and Luis Paulo Gatti; copywriters Andre Nunes Bueno and Adam Lenart; photographer Thirza Schaap, client service director Levente Balint, account director Beata Stumpf, senior account manager Lilla Katona and director of photography Bruin Feskens. Floss Creatives, London. Alexa Antal represented WWF Hungary where she is head of marketing communications. 

• 'Equal Colours/Olympic Games,' also from White Rabbit Budapest, was done for Alma Vetlenyi Fashion, Budapest, which on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination launched its 'Equal Colours' campaign to call attention to eliminate all forms of racial discrimination. Chief creative officers are Istvan Bracsok and Levente Kovacs. Creative directors are Luis Paulo Gatti and Andre Luis Felix with copywriters Verônica Lopes, Júnior Carvalho, Mateus Souza, Luis Paulo Gatti, Andre Nunes Bueno and Levente Kovacs. Art directors are Rodrigo Nakaza, Gatti and Marcos Mendes Tanaka. Client service director is Levente Balint; account director is Beata Stumpf. Senior account manager is Lilla Katona; digital account executive is Borbala Tumo. The production company is Fuze Image Maker, Curitiba, Parana, Brazil.
