Design and animation studio Laundry recently designed the title sequence and poster art for FITC Toronto 2021, one of the leading digital creative conferences, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. The conference took place this week in an entirely virtual format, featuring speakers such as beeple, GMUNK, Stefan Sagmeister, and Lauren Hom, among others.
Shawn Pucknell, founding director of FITC, enlisted Laundry to help with the title sequence and poster art under the theme of 'Intersections'.
Laundry partner/executive creative director PJ Richardson and artist Alex Liou had been experimenting with CGI particle and liquid inspirations and felt this was the perfect approach for converging colour and animation around the conference’s overarching theme.
To help tie the whole visual experience together, Laundry also designed the hero poster and design elements that translated across website, social, and conference show graphics.
PJ Richardson commented: “We created a look and color palette that felt fun, bold, and unexpected. Our concept is about celebrating experimentation, learning, watching, and this elevated sense of creative-making that intersects both art and technology as one. Specifically, Alex and I wanted to explore particles, liquid, and more, but with a very graphic twist.”
The Laundry team used C4D, X-Particles, and Houdini to create the title sequence and show graphics.
