Levente Kovacs, CCO at White Rabbit has translated Trott's classic book on creativity for the benefit of Hungarian marketing and advertising professionals

A great book on creativity always can come in handy, especially if it's written by one of the most iconic figures of British advertising, Dave Trott. But reading his illuminating and intriguing stories on creativity in your native language definitely makes the experience all the better and rewarding.

Levente Kovacs, chief creative officer of White Rabbit Budapest saw an opportunity in this quarantine-ridden times, so he took Dave Trott's latest book, Creative Blindness (and How to Cure it), and simply translated it into Hungarian.

"We've been confined with four walls, and there were all kinds of challenges circulating around to make WFH fun, simply broke its monotony, or something", says Levente. "However, as I was reading Dave's inspiring stories, thoughts and advices on creativity, I realised: that's pretty much the mindset we need to boost here in these turbulent Covid-times! And everyone could and should benefit from reading this masterfully written, typical Trott-stylish, economic, yet enlightening texts. If there was ever a time for sharing knowledge – well, then this was the time."

So the challenge was given. Levente teamed up with fellow adman Laszlo Berta, his founding partner of their popular advertising blog in Hungary (Reklamtortenet – Advertising Chronicles), that specialized in publishing industry-related books in Hungarian (Luke Sullivan's Hey Whipple; Steve Harrison's book on Gossage; Bob Hoffman's Marketeers from Mars... just to name a few). So it was obvious for them to take the challenge, and turn it into an opportunity. In less than 10 months they did the translation, finalized, proof-read the copy, got it published, and distributed the copies to the bookshops by the beginning of 2021.

Creative Blindness was an original publication by Harriman House in 2019; the Hungarian version titled Kreatív vakság has been published by Advertising Chronicles less than two years later.

So if you want to start learning Hungarian, now you have a good reason for it.
