Experience a New Way of Electrification in the Acura Metaverse

Five fantasy worlds. Five distinct drivers. Filming an automotive project can be a challenging task in itself. But when it comes to shooting prototype cars - besides combined with 'metaverse' - the difficulty level of visual postproduction increases to another dimension.

From a VFX perspective, the first challenge was that half of the cars were not available for filming at all. So we had to create them digitally, where we are used to a fast paced environment, with efficient, precise work and minimal error.

The second challenge was the surroundings. We tried to shoot as much as possible in camera, but to meet the storyboard and all the client’s and director’s expectations, it had to be computer generated as well. Which meant hunting for similar spaces with adequate light conditions. In a follow-up phase, we completely replaced the environments in close shots. As well as classical shooting, we used all possible postproduction techniques ranging from virtual production, and LED wall stages to full CG environments. 

Despite the challenges, we were able to complete the project successfully. The final product is a stunning video that showcases the new Acura models in all their glory. It was a demanding project but one that was well worth it in the end. More valuable experience gained and we can't wait for another similarly exciting project!
