The last chapter of the fundraising campaign for Communities for Development takes listeners on a global journey

In summer 2020, independent creative agency DUDE launched a fundraising campaign with a difference: a parody rap music video and original song with a very serious message behind it. ‘Money Makes Money’ convinced the world that the Bulambuli community in eastern Uganda is worth investing in.

Thanks to the joint venture with MassiveMusic and supported by Kurio and Third City, DUDE is now giving their fundraising challenge an innovative spin: artists from all around the world have remixed the Ugandan-produced song, giving the original track a global appeal, with the ultimate aim to help the Bulambuli community reach their goal.

From Uganda to Amsterdam, Berlin, LA, San Francisco and Tokyo, Remixes for Good is a brand new playlist which will take listeners to a global journey through each individual artists’ interpretation.

Listen to the Remixes for Good playlist here.

A diverse selection of eclectic remixes of the original song, which includes:

Money Makes Money – O.O.Y. Remix - Tokyo Future Bass Kawaii
Money Makes Money – Donk Face Remix - Amsterdam House
Money Makes Money – Noah Lifschey Remix - LA Underground
Money Makes Money – Prince of Deptford Remix - Berlin Techno
Money Makes Money – Camtrao Remix - Amsterdam R&B Dancehall
Money Makes Money – Jason Wool Remix - San Francisco Experimental

Remixes for Good was launched in partnership with Communities for Development, a charity dedicated to empowering Ugandan communities to become self-sufficient through saving groups, training and financial support. By giving community members the ability to leverage their own skills, Communities for Development aims to give individuals the ability to become financially self-sufficient.

Pilar Tejon from Communities for Development said: “At Communities for Development, we always look for innovative ways to bring awareness to our cause. The idea of creating a music project with local artists from Bulambuli and other places in Uganda was born not only to get funds, but also to introduce the world to some top artists from Uganda. And what better than to collaborate with DJs and producers from all over the world?”

Cece Wyldeck, head of creative development at MassiveMusic said: “The ‘Money Makes Money’ original track is already quite the banger itself. To take it to the next level, we pushed it as far as we could in the most literal sense of the word: we went overseas and collaborated internationally with the other MassiveMusic offices and beyond – from Uganda to Amsterdam to Tokyo to L.A., so each territory could give their interpretation of the track. This proves, once again, that music is the universal language we all need to cross any physical and societal barriers.”

Curro Piqueras executive creative director of DUDE, added: “Money Makes Money ends with these amazing remixes curated by our partners Massive Music, in collaboration with Kurio and Third City. We could not be more excited to be launching this last part of the campaign where artists from Uganda, and Bulambuli specifically, collaborated with producers from all around the world.”
