Directing Duo Furmaan + Vasso Join OB

With their passion for mysticism and finding beauty in chaos, OB can’t wait to see what lies ahead for their new signing, Furmaan + Vasso.

With two freshly released videos, both breaking within a week, one for Jess Glynne and another for Ashnikko, it’s clear to see that this unconventional duo are already attracting attention for their new and alternative ways of thinking.

OB’s Furmaan + Vasso first connected in 2016 through their passion for mysticism, mythology and folk culture. Their relationships with their own spirituality and heritage played a massive part in their collaborative friendship and personal lives. Furmaan comes from a Pakistani - Scottish heritage and was brought up with Sufi/Celtic traditions and Vasso grew up in Eastern European Slavic culture and was brought up Orthodox Christian. They found similarities in their backgrounds as outsiders trying to make more sense of the world not built for them.

As creators, their goal is to challenge what is ‘futuristic’ and offer a kind of unreal reality with new ways of thinking about the world. Spirituality has always been a massive part of their work. The sublime, the unbelievable, the unimaginable - this is at the crux of their approach in image making and moving image.

By toying with things that seem lowbrow and subversive, with high performance environments and the world of luxury, the duo believe this convergence of worlds has the power to challenge the zeitgeist and incite change. Controlling the context where their ideas appear, is a tool they often play with in making both music videos and commercials.

Furmann + Vasso said, "Our goal is to offer a new alternative way of thinking about the world, to propose a more playful and forward-thinking way of image and video making and to, hopefully, forge moments that make an imprint on culture."
