Diarrhea is a leading cause of child deaths in rural India. Lifebuoy believes we can save lives by building the habit of washing hands with soap before eating. Heavy, hand-operated pumps are the only way to access water for washing in rural schools. And children don't like the hard work involved. Lifebuoy decided to talk to children in a language they understand -- the language of play. A rocking-horse inspired mechanism was mad from wood and metal, and was added on to the handles of forgotten hand pumps with a simple screw-on attachment, turning them into Jump Pumps.CREDITS
