Jani Guest and Richard Packer founded Independent Films in 2002 with a focus on representing some of the world's most recognized directors whilst at the same time developing the careers of previously unknown talent. Prior to Independent, Packer was head of TV at HHCL & Partners and CDP and boasts experience as an agency producer at BBH, London and a line producer at Propaganda and Harry Films in the UK. Guest was previously the executive producer for Propaganda and Satellite Films UK and worked with US talent for nearly a decade before setting up Independent. She is often credited within the industry for introducing American directing talent to the UK market. In this vein, Guest continues to encourage US directors to cross the Atlantic for work. US production companies Anonymous Content and Biscuit Filmworks base their European operations out of Independent. These relationships have helped create stand-out campaigns for Boots, Bavaria, Siemens, Cravendale and Mercedes. Independent Films has grown steadily to become one of the world's Top 20 advertising production companies in 2005 (Boards Magazine). This may be attributed to its global know-how, healthy respect for creativity in a commercial environment, and a spirit of professionalism.
