Young and Emerging Women Leaders Program

 46 Add to collection
Joan Kirner was Victoria’s first – and the state’s only – female Premier. Her political legacy is characterised by a commitment to promote women and reform education, so women can be better represented in leadership roles. Today’s Victorian Government continues its commitment to these goals in a range of ways, one of which is the Joan Kirner Young and Emerging Women Leaders Program. It awards scholarships to 25 women who reflect some of Joan’s six passions: education, environment, women’s health, Melbourne’s west, Aboriginal women and culturally diverse women. Jumbla was asked to create a 30-second video detailing the story of a potential candidate. Artistic, vibrant and inspirational, the video – without narration – effectively builds hype around the program, pointing viewers to the program’s website where they can apply. The birth of a brief The client admired the TVC work we undertook for UK-based Scottish Water, which featured a character travelling from left-to-right across the screen, immersed in an array of layered elements. This was echoed in the Victorian Government’s request to make strong use of depth and parallax (when things in the background move at a slower rate to what’s in the foreground – think of when you’re in a car and trees flash past you faster than mountains) for a more emotive tone. Our animator’s choice of vibrant, contrasting colours was a deliberate ploy. Purple is associated with passion, fulfilment, and even feminine energy. As the video progresses, we see green being used to highlight the environment and blue for the open spaces of a cityscape. Bespoke drawings for a stronger impact The high-quality artistry follows a style our experienced animator David designed and proposed. His hand-drawn assets, inspired by watercolour paintings, were created in Photoshop before being rigged and animated in After Effects. Jumbla’s intention was to visualise a journey of influence and achievement, which is what the Young and Emerging Women Leaders Program is all about.
