The brief was simple: “We’re going to give you some Chucks. You do something amazing with them. No rules, no guidelines, no limits.” We responded by making the world’s most rock ‘n’ roll sneaker even more rock ‘n’ roll by turning it into a working wah wah pedal. To celebrate Converse’s new Google+ page, the sneaker brand partnered with Google and Creative Social to launch the Hack-a-Chuck competition. A simple brief challenged creative agencies across the globe to imagine what could be done with a pair of blank Chuck Taylors, creative technology and bold ideas. The only requirement: just make it amazing. We made the world’s most rock ‘n’ roll sneaker even more rock ‘n’ roll by turning it into a working wah wah pedal, complete with twin jack ports in the front to plug your guitar and amp in. Starting with a Vox Classic Wah Wah, we dug out the electronics. Replaced the original switch with a flex sensor. Added an Arduino Nano to amplify the signal. Then built the lot into the sole of the size 12 Chuck Taylor provided by Converse. Finally we renamed it “The Converse Chet Atkins All Wah,” after Mr Guitar, Chet Atkins, the first man ever to use a wah wah.Categories: Clothing and Fashion, Shoes
