 ZAAZ and Microsoft Launch Art of Touch

ZAAZ has launched “The Art of Touch” project, an interactive, global campaign that inspires all ages to drag, swipe and click their way from a blank digital canvas to their own unique masterpiece.
To demonstrate the design, elegance and capabilities of Microsoft’s Touch Mouse family of products, users can use three brushes and six unique effects.

The project launched with three featured artists and an open-house event at the Microsoft Store in University Village.

Artist Marius Watz, whose work hangs in museums around the world, described The Art of Touch tool as “different than a traditional drawing program, it is more like having artwork with its own intelligence and style of drawing, but it allows you to take the hand at directing it.”

This collaboration between the user and their computer allows for an unprecedented experience. To ensure its success, the ZAAZ team pushed modern browsers to their limit. In order to draw strokes and use animations in realtime on the digital canvas, JavaScript libraries had to be combined with HTML5.

The Art of Touch also allows each person to save and tag their art with their name and location. Users can share their creation through social networks like Facebook, where they can earn votes to win prizes in “The Art of Touch” Sweepstakes.

The contest began November 10th and runs now through February 4, 2012. The featured artist, chosen by the highest number of votes, will be showcased December 31st on The Art of Touch site.
