Dom Butler, a creative at McCann London, and two of his friends Savannah Power and Chelsea Power, who work in fashion and film, have launched ‘
Women To Look Up To’, a festive personal project celebrating some of 2017’s most inspirational women.
The project riffs off the Christmas tradition of placing an angel atop a Christmas tree, replacing them with people such as Hillary Clinton, Beyoncé and Serena Williams.
“We want to change the way our children view Christmas by crowning our trees with women made of more than plastic and glitter, women worthy of wings, women to look up to,” the group say.
The Christmas tree toppers have all ready gained some mainstream traction, being listed as an ultimate Christmas gift by both The Telegraph and Vogue.
‘Women To Look Up To’, which is a not-for-profit organisation, is also working in collaboration with Pink Protest to launch this year’s Activist Advent Calendar, where they are encouraging 24 days of feminist actions until Christmas, anything from signing a petition, to reading an important article or donating a few pounds to a feminist cause.
