Y.CO unveils experience-rich website through Poke

Y.CO, the upmarket yacht charter and management company, has launched a stylish and content-rich website a world apart from the mundane catalogue-style sites that typify the industry.

Created by digital agency Poke, the new Y.CO site (www.ycoyacht.com) harnesses the adventure and emotion of travel to create a luxurious holiday browsing experience. Instead of endless lists and prices, the site groups yachts by genre and location, allowing the user to find the sort of holiday experience that appeals to them before delving into the detail.

The homepage features a high quality video (created by Neon) in which the camera slowly roams around a boating enthusiast’s office and picks out various travel and yachting adornments. Empire of the Sun’s track Walking On A Dream features as an optional musical backdrop.

The user can then choose from headings such as Movie Night in Cannes or Swim With Giants in Socorro and browse through striking photos accompanied by snippets of information about each type of holiday, using the keyboard arrows to navigate easily from page to page. The site uses HTML5 making everything just as seamless on tablets as it is on computers.

For the keen sailor there is still the option to navigate straight to the yachts from the homepage, with the rich information placing an emphasis on the different kind of experience each boat has in store.

Callum Peden, Senior Creative at Y.CO: “We were recommended Poke as leaders in their field and working with them has demonstrated just how far ahead they are. We’ve finished the project with a website which is totally unique in our industry and surpasses even our own expectations – in terms of design as well as functionality. It was most refreshing (and ultimately rewarding) to be advised by a team of real experts who didn’t just tell us what we wanted to hear, but offered genuine guidance and opinion based on years of experience. We’re delighted with the result.”
