Unconscious class bias is among the topics on the agenda for this year’s Effie UK Leadership Summit, which takes place on 7th October at 3-5.30pm BST and includes speakers from McLaren Racing, Santander and Grind, one of the most successful challenger brands of the past decade.

The summit, which is free and open to all, also features insights into the most up-to-date thinking on marketing effectiveness and reveals this year’s Effie UK Award-winning campaigns. It culminates with the announcement of the recipient of the 2021 UK Grand Effie.

Speaking on the panel for the session titled ‘Class: UK marketing’s most ignored issue?’ are Steven Lacey, Founder of The Outsiders, Asad Dhunna, Founder & CEO of The Unmistakables, Havas London’s chief creative officer, Vicki Maguire, and Andy Nairn, who is founding partner of Lucky Generals. Together they discuss why working class audiences are so often stereotyped or overlooked entirely, and what we can learn about thoughtful inclusion from those who are already creating progressive work in this area.

Also on the agenda is a discussion about effectiveness as a journey not a destination, in partnership with Facebook. It features Tom Roach, Vice President of Branding at Jellyfish, David Abrahamovich, founder of the fast-growing coffee brand Grind, and Claire Cronin, who is chief creative officer at McLaren Racing. KJ Weir, Facebook’s head of creative agency Partnerships, moderates the session.

Before that, Ipsos Mori presents insights drawn from analysis of this year’s winning campaigns, which are discussed by industry leaders including Jo Arden, chief strategy officer at Publicis Poke, Saj Arshad, who is Santander UK’s chief customer and innovation officer, and Dan Clays, CEO of Omnicom Media Group. Eleanor Thornton-Firkin, head of creative excellence at IPSOS Mori, moderates.

Juliet Haygarth, managing director, Effie UK, said: “At the heart of everything Effie UK does is our ‘Ideas that Work’ philosophy, so if it’s on the agenda at this year’s Leadership Summit and Awards Celebration, it’s going to help you be more effective. Expect inspiring campaigns, interesting speakers and, of course, actionable insights – guaranteed to invigorate you as we face up to what may be some challenging times.”

Sessions are streamed live and can be attended for free. Register online to join.
