Theo Mercado, Trevor Myers, Leah Turner and Jamie Hodgson join across New York, Los Angeles and London

WORK has four new editors in NY, LA and London in Theo Mercado, Trevor Myers, Leah Turner and Jamie Hodgson. All four have now been promoted to editor in their home offices, although have travelled between all offices and are very much a part of each one.

As WORK approaches its fifteenth year in May, these newly-appointed editors are bringing a new energy and excitement to all three offices, bringing to the fore WORK’s ethos of encouraging young talent and bringing great editors into the industry.

Theo Mercado and Trevor Myers both started in NY, with Theo joining as an assistant and swiftly becoming a strong part of the team, both in skills and personality. Having assisted on major campaigns, she moved on to splitting jobs and is now taking off on her own! Trevor was WORK’s first runner in NY and has been a major part of the American side of the company’s growth. His continued dedication and drive is evident in his projects and he, like Theo, is booked on jobs of his own - brilliant news not only for WORK, but for clients who they have built a strong relationship with.

Erica Thompson, EP/managing director of NY comments: “It brings me tremendous joy to see Theo and Trevor promoted to editors at Work. From their early days as assistants, I knew they had what it takes to make their career dreams a reality. They embody the Work ethos of creative editing, but also of professionalism and respect for everyone they work with. I’m thrilled for them as individuals and also for the company, that they can continue to flourish with us.”

Theo Mercado adds: “One of the main reasons I was drawn to WORK (on top of the excess of talent) is the way the company treats every employee as a member of the family. Even how the office is designed embodies how the company is run: no unnecessary walls, everything is out in the open, as transparent and collaborative as possible. WORK is ultimately about forming and holding onto meaningful relationships.”

Trevor Myers comments: “WORK is home to good people doing exceptional work. There's a sincere focus on craft, but also on people and relationships. WORK embraces creative collaboration and supports the growth of its own. I'm proud to be a part of it and grateful for the opportunity to carry on that legacy.”

Based in London, Jamie Hodgson has been at WORK for a good few years now. Arriving from a job as IT manager at a graphics company, he quickly became an amazing assistant and then, because of his amazing eye and style, started cutting music promos and sharing jobs with senior editors - making it impossible for him to continue assisting.

Jamie Hodgon comments: “WORK has a great atmosphere which makes a big difference with the long hours you need to put in at times. It still has the feel of a small company despite expanding to 3 offices -  everyone mucks in and there's an inclusivity I've not experienced elsewhere.”

Ben Tomlin, EP in London, adds: “Jamie is a massive editing talent and super exciting to produce work with. He has had a really successful innings during lockdown, in the office tirelessly working on some big campaigns like PlayStation and Plenty and is now emerging in 2021 as some serious roster competition.”

Leah Turner, out in LA, has been a force to be reckoned with. Coming from a documentary background, she brings that level of detail and tenacity to the advertising and promo world. Being one of the most requested assistants by editors and clients, she is, like the others, forging her own path now and no longer available to assist on jobs.

Marlo Baird, EP/managing director, comments: “Leah Turner is the real deal. She loves to edit. She lives for the craft and her talent is matched with technical prowess and a Midwest work ethic. I have no doubt she is going to be one of the female editors leading this industry.”

Leah Turner adds: “WORK’s philosophy is centered around collaboration, which I think really makes us unique. Everyone from the top to the bottom supports one another. We all want everyone to succeed and for us to put out the best content possible. It is rare that a company is so integrated and supportive. I know I can always reach out to any of my coworkers or vice versa and they will lend advice or assistance or even just a fresh set of eyes.”

WORK is beyond happy to promote these four. As founding partner Jane Dilworth notes: “Theo, Trevor, Leah and Jamie are all incredibly special and in very different ways. It’s been amazing, and the best part of my job, to see these brilliant young people take the reins of their own careers and be part of the next generation at WORK. I’ve now, after 15 years, seen some brilliant editors come from being runners and assistants with us and it’s wonderful to see this continue to happen.”
