Work of the Week: 08/10/21

ADD TO COLLECTION

The creative consistency of IKEA has impressed LBB’s Alex Reeves yet again

Work of the Week: 08/10/21

I can’t think of an advertising campaign for IKEA that I don’t like. It’s odd actually, because I’m not one of those people who just loves to spend a Saturday morning dawdling through a one-way system of hypothetical bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms dreaming of my perfect future home before marvelling at the value of the Swedish meatballs. I feel like that’s a lot of people’s (massive blue FRAKTA) bag, but not mine. Yet each time Mother London puts together a creative idea for the home furnishings giant, I smile.

This week IKEA released a new campaign all about getting ready for cosy season in the UK. Soft furnishings are about to become essential once more as we banish the gloom of the British winter from our inner sanctums. And of course, the campaign features teddy bears with bodies like Arnold Schwarzenegger before his acting or political careers. Because Mother is one of those agencies that can get away with doing weird stuff and making it work for their clients.

IKEA is also being weird and brilliant in Saudi Arabia this week, which just goes to show how a considered global brand can make itself relevant across drastically different cultures.

Check both of those out in our list below, as well as loads more of the week’s best creativity.
