Apple's 'Behind the Mac' campaign is a brilliantly simple idea. Using found footage, TBWA\Media Arts Lab's campaign shows incredible people from all walks of life making groundbreaking work with a Mac in tow. As its title suggests, the campaign focuses on the people behind the Mac - the likes of Megan Rapinoe, Paul McCartney, Mark Ronson and more - instead of the Mac itself, and is all the more powerful for it.
This week saw Apple Japan give it a distinctly local twist in a way that we found extremely enjoyable. The new spot is a quick-cut cavalcade of anime characters using Mac laptops - and in keeping with the campaign's creation process, each shot has been harvested from real animated shows and movies.
It was one of the best ads that we saw in the past seven days and unsurprisingly features in Work of the Week, alongside spots from Honda and Wieden+Kennedy London, McDonald's and TBWA\San Juan, and more.
