Work of the Week: 03/12/21

It’s hard to believe that December is already upon us, and with only a couple of weeks left until Christmas there are still some Christmas crackers being released. This week’s selection of top work features some latecomer festive spots as well as a few sporty specials - from Grand Slams with Serena Williams to grandmaster Gary Kasparov.

The BBC’s Christmas campaign is a long-distance Christmas love story with plenty of heartwarming jokes and familiar family Christmas experiences. It’s the perfect warm-up before the holiday festivities kick off in your own home - expect charades, excessive TV watching and unfortunately shaped puddings.

Also released this week are a number of sports spots that see an Olympic snowboarder crashing through a ceiling, Serena Williams become ‘The One’ in a DirectTV - Matrix crossover with some blockbuster VFX and Chess grandmaster Gary Kasparov take on a Hearthstone esports professional in a mini-documentary that mirrors his infamous chess matches with IBM supercomputer ‘Deep Blue’.
