TYPE is an eye wear brand launched in January 2014 by W+K Tokyo, with a new concept of choosing your glasses like selecting a typeface.
Available from February 1st, new models 'Caslon,' 'Copperplate,' and 'Univers' have been added to the existing product lineup of 11 models.
As the choice of typeface affects how a message communicates in written communication, subtle design differences in eyeglass frames can change the impression of the person who wears them. W+K's eye wear brand TYPE was inspired by the similarities between the function and design of typefaces and glasses.
Each pair is handcrafted in Sabae City, known as the home of Japanese eye wear craftsmanship.
Each model is named after the typeface which inspired the frame design, such as 'Helvetica' and 'Garamond.' Like selecting weights for a typeface, frames come in different frame widths (Light/Regular/Bold.) Each model is available in sunglasses form or as normal glasses and in different colours.
