A look back at a great year for Wise Music Creative

As I am sure you all have heard many times before, 2021 was a year like few others. For some, the year was filled with immense strife. Others found 2021 to be a time of growth. For Wise Music Group, 2021 was a year that saw awards, incredible signings, and new albums across many genres.

2021’s top signings feature The Zombies – with songs including “She’s Not There”, “Care of Cell 44”, and “Time of the Season”; Hania Rani – a Polish pianist and composer who creates inter-genre music combining classical, electronica, jazz, and elements of pop;  Smash Mouth’s Greg Camp – including chart-topping hits “Walkin’ On The Sun”, “When The Morning Comes”, and “All Star”; The Daydream Club – a husband wife duo who’s eclectic, genre spanning catalogue has amassed over 100 million streams so far; Ngaiire – an exquisite songwriter described as having “a combination of Mary J. Blige and Erykah Badu’s voices mixed with M.I.A.’s genre-bending sensibility”; and Gigi Masin – an Italian composer, musician, and producer and master of ambient music who has been sampled by the likes of Bjork, Post Malone, and Nujabes.

Not only was 2021 full of Wise Music signings, but incredible albums from our artists were also released and many awards were won. Ngaiire’s ‘3’, Peter Gregson’s ‘Patina’, Ludovico Einaudi’s ‘Underwater’, and even a few tracks from David Bowie’s ‘Toy’ are included in this year’s releases.  Earlier in the year, we saw Toots and The Maytals win the best reggae album at the Grammys and saw nominations for Philip Glass, John Adams, Nico Muhly, Florence Price, Du Yun, Ólafur Arnalds, Missy Mazzoli, and over a dozen others at the 64th Grammy Awards.

You may have struggled this past year. You may have learned and developed as a person. You may have found it was nothing all that special for you.  Regardless of your year, you just might be able to find some joy and lose yourself in Wise Music’s exceptional 2021 catalogue!
