Winter Shiny Awards Winners Announced at Framestore London

Shiny are dedicated to changing the look of the commercial industry’s director talent pool. Last night's Winter Shiny Awards hosted by Framestore continued their exceptional track record on this front.

The shortlist of 14 spec ads, music videos, branded content and micro-shorts screened to a packed house of over 150 new directors, post production, production services and production companies.

Of the 14 videos, only four were made by directors from the mainstream demographic. The rest were made by female directors, global ethnic majority directors, LGBTQIA+ and directors with a low income upbringing.

Judges selecting the winners were Percy Ascott (Wall of Entertainment). Alex Reeves (LBBO), Simon Devereaux and Anna Kennedy (Framestore). 

Winning videos were:

- Freddie Leyden (London, The Visionaries) Christies/ Boris Seva

- Alena Shevchenko (London/ Berlin, Freelance) Sorry I Am Late, I Was Masturbating

- Hanna Lange (Frankfurt Am Main, Freelance) New Period

- Ali Dickenson (London, Curate Films) Two Star Superstars

- Adam Chitayat (New York, Freelance) Alex Boman/ Sailing

And the audience choice video

- Cassandra Brooksbank (London/ Los Angeles, Great Guns) Bonthoven/ The D

Caroline Bottomley from Shiny said: “The support across the industry for Shiny and the directors we showcase is so encouraging and we’re very grateful. As always, people said the talent was so impressive, and commented on how many new contacts they always make at Shiny.

This year over a hundred directors who submitted work to Shiny have subsequently been signed or have gone on to win major awards. I’m sure it will be the same for last night's winners & shortlisted talent - which included two student entries!”
