Why PSN Is Driven to Optimise Commercial Shoots Globally
How to deliver more for less was a fundamental challenge facing producers of branded content in attendance recently at Berlin’s Ciclope Festival and Seville’s Commercial Film Workshop.

Commercial production companies in Spain challenged by crisis-ridden campaign budgets and service companies faced with competition from cost-cutting competition in other fair-weather destinations came to recognise a shared interest at gathering data to demonstrate their combined contribution to Spain’s economy. Based on the success of similar efforts across Europe and the US, the budding initiative could ultimately spur authorities in Spain to boost and expand comparatively small feature film incentives like those slated for 2015.

At the other end of the spectrum, innovation and experimentation continues to fuel an industry in which the likes of filmmaker Roman Coppola, speaking at the international festival celebrating craft in Berlin, enjoyed sharing work he recently produced on a minimal budget.

“Risky choices are a safe bet,” surmised Coppola.

One new tool helping to deliver the best available creative for a particular budget is bringing the mirage-like promise of good, fast and cheap into focus.  In attendance at both gatherings was the Production Service Network (PSN) featuring proven partners positioned to optimise local film and photography support across +20 top shoot countries.

Fast because PSN is a one-stop shop providing local feedback from a wide range of popular shoot destinations.  Producers already decided on where to shoot can also contact PSN partners directly to develop their shoot one-to-one.

Cheap because producers pay no extra cost to use PSN and its partners to help determine where and how to best deliver on any given brief within budget.

Producers on shoots for Sony and Philip Morris International brands have already used the Network to do just that for shoots in the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. 

South Africa, India, and UAE partners have joined PSN Portugal and Turkey to extend a warm welcome throughout the winter for sun-seeking productions from cooler Northern latitudes.

Croatia, Czech Republic, Lithuania-Latvia, Poland, and Romania have also partnered to boost the Network’s local shooting options during four seasons across much of Europe.
