At iProspect, we believe that our employees are more than just their job titles. They're talented, multifaceted individuals with unique interests and hobbies that make them who they are. Many of our employees possess a unique trademark - a special skill or interest that is exclusive to them, making them stand out in their own way. It's what we like to call their "IP."

In this edition of 'What's Your IP', we sit down with Peter Fluet who daylights as a manager of traffic at iProspect US and is also a talented sketch and stand-up comedian rubbing elbows with the likes of Kristen Wiig, and writing sketches for Jimmy Kimmel Live! Read on to learn more.

Q> How did you start pursuing your interest in comedy?

Peter> About 20 years ago, I was working at a job I hated and my friends suggested I pursue a hobby. They recommended I audition for the Groundlings theater, known for famous comedians like Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig. I was very hesitant, but they tricked me into an audition. They created a fake headshot, a fake acting resume, told me they were going to take me to lunch, and then kicked me out of the car in front of the Groundlings theater. That had signed me up for an audition that was starting in 10 minutes. I ended up getting in. Since then, I've been performing at theaters across LA doing improv, sketch comedy, and stand-up, averaging four to eight shows per month.

Q> Have you turned your talent in comedy into a side hustle or business opportunity?

Peter> Yes, through my performances, I've been able to land gigs like writing sketches for Jimmy Kimmel Live and performing for Second City theater on Norwegian Cruise Lines where I was able to visit South America, Central America, Europe, and a small part of Africa. I currently teach improv comedy at theaters in Los Angeles, and while I'm not famous or a millionaire, I'm proud to have made consistent income from something I enjoy.

Q> What do you enjoy most about performing comedy?

Peter> I love making people laugh and performing with the people I've met through my comedy. Despite not being an extrovert, I've found a community of friends that have become like a family to me, including famous comedians like Kristen Wiig, Brennan Hunt, and Mikey Day.

Q> What makes the culture at iProspect different from other companies?

Peter> At iProspect, the culture is built around collaboration, much like in improv, where our goals are to listen to each other, collaborate with each other, to not only say yes to someone's idea, but to also expand upon it. The traffic team in particular exemplifies this culture as we work together to ensure we never drop the ball and always accomplish our goals. Instead of shutting down ideas with a "no," the team encourages expanding on them and finding ways to make them better. This approach is vastly different from the isolating and critical environments at some other companies, where ideas are often dismissed or met with disapproval. iProspect's culture of positivity and collaboration is something I truly appreciate.

Q> Can you describe a typical workday for you at iProspect?

Peter> On a typical day, I spend time sending traffic and emails to ensure that people have the necessary creative assets. This can include coordinating with the creative team to make sure that everything is ready to go.

However, there are times when my workload can be much more demanding, such as when I am working on large campaigns. During these periods, it can feel like everything is a forest fire, and my team and I are essentially acting as Smokey the Bear, working to prevent any potential issues from turning into bigger problems.

Despite the occasional high-pressure situations, one of the things I really appreciate about iProspect is the company culture. When I need to collaborate with other departments, like investment or planning, I never feel like I'm bothering them or taking up too much of their time. Everyone is always willing to help and figure out how we can work together to get things done. It's really a collaborative environment, and I think that helps us all be more successful in our roles.
