The Record House managed lyric rewrite, arrangement and remote recording for the Carmen version

In an era of lockdowns and isolation, everyone is looking for intimacy anywhere they can get it. And why not take a little 'alone time' while washing your hands?

In this wryly humorous video, shot using exquisite 1,500 frame per second cinematography and accompanied by a voice-over reminiscent of Spike Jonze’s movie 'Her', the filmmakers render each detailed step of the World Health Organisation’s hand washing technique as a sensual act.

“Everyone is aware by now that washing your hands often and for at least 20 seconds is what we all should be doing. But good information about how we should do it has not been as visible. We wanted to do something about that.” say the filmmakers.

Might some viewers watch this suggestive video in other, even more private 'contexts'? Perhaps. But their tagline 'we should do this more often' will certainly be a provocative reminder to us all to do our part to stop the spread of this virus.

And for viewers for which this particular take on the subject might not be age appropriate, the filmmakers produced a grandmother-proof alternate version incorporating an off-the-wall sing-along of the famous Habenera from Bizet’s opera Carmen.

The naughtier version that will really 'turn you on' to good hygiene:

A 'cleaner' version you can show your grandmother:

This spot was created and shared on social media back in April. It was meant to remind people to do their part in the prevention of the spread of Covid-19 and giving them something fun to do while they clocked in their 20 seconds at the sink. The Record House did lyric rewrite, arrangement and remote recording for the Carmen version.
