Wavemaker Ranks #1 in COMvergence’s New Business Barometer for APAC and China

Wavemaker, the global media, content and technology agency, has ranked No. 1 in latest COMvergence New Business Barometer report, both in China and in APAC region.

With 290 million USD value of new business wins, which is more than three times greater than the second ranked agency, Wavemaker has scored top position in APAC region. The majority of this growth has been driven by China, where Wavemaker won seven new assignments in Q1 2019, including those for Huawei, Xiaohongshu (Little Red Book), Chimelong, IHG and SAIC Roewe.

Wavemaker has seen spectacular growth in the region since its launch in December 2017. The key to this success has been the focus on helping clients grow their brands. Wavemaker’s proprietary methodology provides unrivalled purchase journey data that allows market experts to spot problems and opportunities and turn them into solutions that create brand growth. This has resulted in a series of high profile new business wins, with the Huawei media win in China being the biggest single market win for Wavemaker to date.

COMVergence New Business Barometer report, released on a quarterly basis, provides an in-depth analysis and assessment of media agency and group performance in global, regional and local media pitches and moves. It is calculated on the basis of Total New Business Values - new clients wins plus retentions minus losses. In China, all accounts whose monitored spending is over 1 million USD is taken into consideration. All data is pulled from COMvergence’s proprietary CARD online database, CTR, iResearch and CODC (China Outdoor Data Corporation).
