Wavemaker, the global media, content and technology agency, has announced the appointment of Jeff Yan as chief client officer for China and head of Wavemaker’s Beijing office.
In this new role, Jeff will be responsible for Wavemaker China’s client leadership practice, providing senior counsel to Wavemaker clients in developing organisational change and transformation agendas. Jeff will also head up the 300-person Beijing office and as a senior member of the Wavemaker management team will help further develop the agency’s capability and value offer to clients.
Upon joining, Jeff said: “It’s an exciting time for me to join Wavemaker. The future facing agency has huge potential in these challenging times for marketing communications. I am impressed by the depth of talent at Wavemaker, along with the diversity of client business and scope. I look forward to being able to apply my expertise to further enhance our service proposition to clients and help them realise their full growth potential.”
Since inception in December 2017, Wavemaker (formerly MEC and Maxus) has seen spectacular growth in China. Wavemaker was ranked the top agency for new business wins in 2018 (R3, January 2019), with more than 25 new client wins in the areas of media, content, e-commerce, social and integrated marketing services.
“In a market where disruption to customer behaviour is constant, our success has come from our ability to help our clients identify new growth opportunities and activate them at speed.” said Gordon Domlija, Wavemaker China CEO and APAC president. “We are able do this because of the talent we continue to nurture, and an approach that is unrestrained by traditional legacy thinking. I am absolutely delighted to welcome Jeff to our phenomenal team. The business insight he has accumulated through his experience is exceptional, and the additional perspective he will bring to Wavemaker will help take the agency to yet another level.”
