Want to know what I'm excited about? Voice search. It is getting more functional and integrated into our lives by the minute. I will admit, I have been sceptical on the projections for how pervasive voice searching will be in the coming years. In the last few weeks, I have engaged with voice search more and more, and it is safe to say I am now a believer. One of the reasons for my change or heart is that voice search is already all around us: native voice search capabilities on your mobile devices, in-home listening devices, voice searching on cable television hardware, in-car voice services, voice search embedded on your computer…it is remarkable how easy it is to ask for a quick search if you start to engage all these platforms that are quite literally all around you.
There continues to be room to improve, and you will still receive a funny out of context search response at times, but the number of those will go down as language context, place, time and personal preferences continue to be woven together into your personalised voice search responses. Voice search will drive quite a bit of change to the current search advertising model, and that will be a change for many, but for now, watch as voice search grows in relevance and pervasiveness in your daily routine.
