Vodafone is celebrating its status as best 5G network in London* this week by branding some of the capital’s iconic Routemaster buses with a technical twist. For the first time, the digital roadside panels will recognise when the branded buses are within two minutes of a scheduled stop and, as the bus approaches, the screens will ‘turn red’ displaying Vodafone advertising across every screen in a 200 metre radius. The innovative campaign is supported by a London-wide print OOH campaign which includes iconic locations such as the iMax and the signs at Piccadilly Circus.
The campaign was created by Ogilvy, media was bought by Carat and Posterscope on Global roadside sites.
The test area accounts for approximately 4.5 million people – about 55% of the total population of London.
*umlaut tested and measured the performance of data services using the latest 5G-capable smartphones, benchmarking the typical user experience on all four UK networks, using a drive test. The benchmark was performed by umlaut communications between 15th – 20th June, 2020 in London.
