VMLY&R Welcomes Simon Macfarlane as Executive Director of Technology for EMEA

VMLY&R today announces the appointment of Simon Macfarlane as executive director of technology for EMEA. He will work closely with EMEA CEO Andrew Dimitriou, EMEA CXO Karen Boswell, and Europe’s executive director of growth, Emma Storer, to build relationships with technology providers and strengthen VMLY&R’s digital transformation offering across the region. 

With a focus on clients and partnerships, Simon will further define VMLY&R’s capabilities and develop a strategic agenda for the network’s offering. He will work with clients to recognise where technology plays a role as a conduit for growth, helping them map their business visions and goals and ensuring the agency delivers against them.  

Simon, who joins from IBM iX, has worked in the digital space at leading agencies and consultancies in the UK, Europe, APAC and North America for over 16 years with a focus on helping organisations and brands ensure that they deliver against their experience, customer and business commitments.

He has enjoyed varying challenges in his career – from driving the digital marketing footprint for a technology company across 17 markets in APAC, shaping a global spirits brand loyalty and technology strategy, to helping automotive brands transform to deliver one to one experiences through their e-commerce and connected car eco-systems.

Simon is passionate about ensuring organisations look at their technology investment through the lens of business and experience design – at VMLY&R he looks forward to helping clients see the role that a creative network has in driving human and business change.
