Christopher Joyce and Perle Arteta's backing banners help up and coming creatives be seen and hired

VMLY&R are supporting two of its creatives with an initiative they have launched.

Created by Christopher Joyce and Perle Arteta, Backing Banners has launched on LinkedIn.

Using the often forgotten header banner of LinkedIn profiles, the project aims to help up-and-coming creatives be seen and hired.

The idea is simple: change your LinkedIn banner to back a young creative by redirecting the attention your profile gets to theirs.

To get involved, you simply download the assets from the Backing Banners site and update your LinkedIn profile with a new banner.

“We see a lot of brilliant talent, but we’re not always in a position to hire them. So we explored how else we could help them get their feet in agency doors, or get seen by the people with the best access to those doors.” - Christopher Joyce (CJ) and Perle Arteta.

Backing Banners launches with six junior creatives who connected with the team on Fishbowl, LinkedIn, and through D&AD Shift and Creative Mentor Network. More young talent is encouraged to sign up to the initiative through the website.

“Senior creatives have prime real estate that never gets used - the banner on their LinkedIn profile. Their profiles also get more traffic than most juniors can dream of. Backing Banners connects that traffic to those who need it most.” - CJ and Perle.

The ambition is for the movement to catch on and become one of the many ways our industry can pay it forward to the next generation of creatives.
