Today, The VIA Agency announced that it has been selected to handle integrated marketing for Republic Wireless, an innovative new mobile carrier spearheading a wireless freedom movement to return value and control of the smartphone experience to consumers, in a competitive review. This effort will center on launching the brand in several regional markets in the spring of 2013.
Republic launched in beta last year and since that time has been featured in a number of high profile news outlets, including USA Today, Wall Street Journal and New York Times. The company is poised to take a bite out of the prepaid cellphone market, which according to The NPD Group, grew in terms of unit sales by 91% year over year from 2011 to 2012.
“We felt great chemistry with the VIA team,” said Noreen Allen, Chief Marketing Officer, Republic Wireless. “We’re at a crucial stage of our growth, with incredible potential to change the dynamics of the mobile industry. After a comprehensive agency review, we felt that VIA was the best partner to help us realize that potential. They’ve got an incredible team of very talented individuals with a great can-do attitude. They’re a perfect fit for the innovative spirit of the Republic brand.”
“Republic Wireless has the potential to seriously disrupt the smartphone industry and we’re excited to support them through innovative marketing sure to agitate the competition,” VIA CEO John Coleman said. “It’s rare to get the chance to partner with a company at such an early phase, and we are looking forward to helping Republic Wireless break onto the national stage.”
