It is Valentine’s Day. Some of you probably have already booked a table for two in one of the best restaurants. Some of you will spend the evening on a top of a roof with your second half. Every filmmaker has its own favourite, cliché way to celebrate love, probably inspired by a film. Ironic teasers, who doesn’t like clichés and red, heart-shaped paper decorations all over the place, say that the Valentine’s Day is a day when we celebrate people with mental problems and epilepsy, as St. Valentine was a patron of patients suffering from mental illnesses.
This year, the celebration (whichever option you choose) falls on Monday, which reminds us that perhaps it’s time for a pinch of admirations for our jobs. At the headquarters of Graffiti Films, we had an amazing chat over a morning coffee about “THE ONE THING I love about my job the most”. Turns out, it was a very refreshing brainstorm and an interesting discussion, which gave us a lot of positive energy for the rest of the week.
Here are a couple of thoughts which have been imprinted on my mind:
Franek: Challenges! Surprising challenges that you have to deal with. And when you manage to overcome them, it is so satisfying and elevating!
Jagoda: I love to go on reckees and discover all the unbelievably beautiful or peculiar venues. Being a filmmaker is like being a gifted creature, who has magical access to places that no one else can see. Looking for a new film location always gives me a thrill.
Klaudia: What I love the most about my job is meeting so many different people, different personalities and tempers. Sometimes I meet a very cool team working with me in a project. With a great team I catch the wave!
Happy Valentine’s Day. May all your favourite cliché romantic film moments come true!
