Created by women and supported by shesaid.so and She Is The Music, the release is timed for International Women’s Day
Universal Production Music, the world’s leading production music company, today announces ‘100% HER: Contemporary Popular Songs,’ the second edition album from the ‘100% HER’ series with all tracks composed, mixed and mastered by women in partnership with shesaid.so.

For the second year, the release will be timed in celebration of International Women’s Day. The sequel album features 10 contemporary pop songs created exclusively by woman-identifying musicians around the world including the UK, Ireland, Africa and the US. With the initial ‘100% HER’ album focused on electronic tracks, 2021’s follow-up pivots toward contemporary pop music with tracks written for film, TV, gaming, online, and radio.

For the second year of the series, Universal Production Music continued its collaboration with shesaid.so, a London-born global network of women and gender minorities in the music industry, as well as She Is The Music, an independent, global non-profit working to increase the number of women in music.

The ongoing project underscores Universal Production Music’s focus on working to increase the number of women in production music and champions the huge contributions made by women in the industry.

Jane Carter, UK managing director of Universal Production Music, said: “For the past 25 years, I have regularly been invited to talk to university students who are studying the music business. The percentage of women in these programmes is still so low, as is the number of those working on the creative side. Through the 100% HER series, Universal Production Music is honored to provide a platform that elevates women composers and shines a much-deserved light on their artistry.”

Universal Production Music launched 100% HER in 2019, calling for woman-identifying composers and artists to submit their electronica and future bass tracks for the chance to be featured on the first album. 10 tracks were ultimately selected out of 470 submissions from across the globe. Since release in 2020, the album now has more than 40,000 Spotify streams and was featured on the platform’s New Releases playlist.

‘100% HER: Contemporary Popular Songs’ will be released on the Universal Production Music Atmosphere label and will be available for licensing here
