UN Women NC Australia Celebrates International Women's Day with 'Empower a Woman, Empower a Nation'

In a moving tribute to pioneering Australian women, the film shows that Australian women owe their empowerment and liberty to the strong women who came before them.

The film also calls for individuals to become 'Empowerment Champions' - people who give to and support the work of UN Women every month, allowing UN Women to expand their most successful programs.

Says Janelle Weissman, executive director, UN Women National Committee Australia: "International Women's Day is celebrated annually on March 8 and it's the National Committee's biggest campaign of the year. It is vitally important that we take a stand by raising awareness and much-needed funds to ensure women and girls have the same opportunities as boys and men to lead, to learn and to earn. UN Women is currently developing, implementing and running programs across the globe to enhance women's economic empowerment and leadership opportunities, to ensure that women and girls are equal participants in the community, the home, in business, in government and in the economy."
