Creatives from Ukraine worked with producer Roger Leao to compose a new version of the Russian national anthem using real sounds from the war

Ukrainian Creative Community Assembles ‘Anthem of True Russia’ from Real Sounds of War

To support Ukraine and condemn the Russian invasion, the Ukrainian creative community invited award-winning musical producer Roger Leao and his team, to write a new version of the anthem of the Russian Federation.

The ‘Anthem of True Russia’ is composed of sounds of true explosions, shelling, barrages, air raid warnings, shooting, scream, and weeping – all real sounds taken from hundreds of documentary and personal videos from Ukraine.

A statement from the collective of creatives behind it said: “On February 24, Russia invaded Ukraine and began an evil war. At 5 am, millions of Ukrainians jumped out of their beds with loud explosions. Since then, they sleep, eat, walk their dogs, lull their kids, and help the wounded to the strains of air raids, shelling, tank barrages, and endless shooting. But those are not the sounds of Ukraine, those are the sounds of the aggressor.”

The ‘Anthem of True Russia’ is accessible on the specially designed website https://anthemoftruerussia.org, on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube and all major music platforms.

The Ukrainian creatives behind the project want to direct everyone towards to this guide explaining how to aid Ukraine
