Just Fix and Truant strike deal to give the innovative startup market-leading creative in exchange for a stake in its business, leaving both companies with skin in the game

Truant London – the independent advertising, media and music agency is investing in soon-to-launch tradespeople marketplace disruptor, Just Fix, by providing marketing services in return for taking a stake equivalent to 5% of the startup at its current pre-money valuation.

Just Fix is a hyper-local, real-time marketplace that connects communities to vetted tradespeople nearby in seconds, making it much faster than existing aggregator solutions. The business is currently raising funds at a pre-money valuation of £2.5m, while targeting a Gross Merchandise Value of £100m over five years.

The deal will see Truant develop a full go-to marketing strategy and creative campaign for the start up, at a time when Just Fix seeks to raise money and then launch a platform that promises to revolutionise the process of getting emergency home issues fixed.

Truant’s appointment sees Just Fix’s founder, Adam Graham, reunited with Truant co-founders David Gamble, Simon Labbett and Chris Jefford, who all previously worked together at Saint London over a decade ago.

Incorporated in August 2020, Just Fix has been in agile start-up mode, validating assumptions and honing the model. The company is currently engaged in a pre-seed funding round on Seedrs and will launch in public beta in June 2022.

Just Fix’s speedier and more efficient model has been achieved by stripping away the traditional anxieties of encountering and having to fix emergency home issues, adopting an Uber-style approach to identifying and engaging tradesmen in your local area. This creates a slick, modern platform that allows customers to support local self-employed tradespeople, with the added reassurance of a 12-month work guarantee from Just Fix itself.

Just Fix CEO, Adam Graham, said: “This entrepreneurial approach from Truant demonstrates their commitment to the account and deepens our partnership so that we are truly aligned on the outcomes of all marketing efforts. By having skin in the game, they share some of the risk and crucially, they share the upside - with the potential for much higher gains than a standard agency remuneration model would provide.”

Truant CEO and co-founder, Chris Jefford, added: “We were instantly taken by the Just Fix vision for a better way of getting problems within your home fixed. The anxieties that people experience are very real, and the platform that Adam and his team have developed has got us all very excited - both for the product itself and the creative appetite that they have shown. We’re incredibly excited to be working with Adam, and are fully invested in making Just Fix a huge success story.”
