For years, the Toyota Camry has represented the pinnacle of safety and reliability. To prove that the Camry is also one heck of a ride, Toyota built a roller coaster-style ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain for an unbelievable two-day event.
The Thrill Ride was an interactive roller coaster-inspired Camry event hosted at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles, CA over Labor Day weekend, featuring stunt drivers taking amusement park goers through a course of twists, turns, tunnels and steep climbs in a Camry SE and Camry LXE Hybrid.
Participants felt the stomach drop of a three story hill, held tight through a 45-degree banked turn, and even went backwards before finally plunging through a tunnel at blazing speed.
And in a first of its kind move, participants placed their phones in a holder to record a “Selfie video” of their entire ride as a souvenir to share on social media.
More than two hundred participants lucky enough to experience the Thrill Ride Event left with a totally different feeling about America’s best selling car: Camry’s not only dependable. It’s a heck of a ride.
The live event offered people the opportunity to experience the Camry at the height of its performance in an unforgettable—and thrilling—way. Passenger reactions were captured from all angles during the Thrill Ride—including through their own cell phones, mounted on the car. Toyota has created TV spots that showcased the authentic reactions of people experiencing Camry’s power and handling.
The campaign was comprised of print, TV, and social media using #Camry.
