FCB’s Worldwide CEO Carter Murray announced today the hire of Tom Theys as EVP Global Strategy, effective early November. Reporting directly to Global Chief Strategy Officer Nigel Jones, Theys will help the network’s top clients unlock business solutions that drive behaviour change.
Jones said, “Tom is one of those rare planners who seem to be able to generate strategies that lead to brilliant and completely surprising creative work on every brand they touch. His arrival is another signal of our continued global focus on the quality and effectiveness of the work we produce.”
Theys joins FCB from Publicis Brussels where he was Head of Strategy and Managing Partner, working with key clients such as BNP Paribas Fortis, Nescafé, Renault, Carrefour and P&G. During his tenure, the agency was awarded Merit Agency of the Year and achieved double-digit revenue growth 3 years in a row.
With a career spanning two decades, Theys started out working client side for brands such as Canal Plus and MTV before joining Duval Guillaume Brussels as a Strategic Planner. There he became Head of Strategy, leading a multi-disciplinary communications planning department, providing insights for campaigns that won seven Effies, over 50 CCB Awards and 15 Cannes Lions.
“Carter spoke recently about how strong partnerships between creative problem solvers, technologists and brands are essential for the future of marketing,” commented Theys. “Belgians have a reputation for successful collaboration so I’m looking forward to finding innovative ways to implement that shared philosophy with FCB’s clients.”
