This Powerful Film Documents One Person's Heart-Wrenching Battle with Anorexia

London based production company Park Village and rising directing talent Harry Reavley recently completed a beautiful and powerfully moving documentary entitled ‘Nervosa’, which focuses on Margherita Barbieri (Margi) and her very personal and heart-wrenching battle with Mental Health condition, Anorexia Nervosa.

As a young and beautiful dancer and artist, Margi endured seven painful years battling this life-threatening and mentally debilitating condition and her very raw and honest account of her journey is a testament to her ultimate strength of character.

Drawing on Harry's fascination with capturing movement, his meticulous eye for detail and his naturally elegant and empathetic interpretation, Harry successfully emotes this deeply moving and inspiring story.

The film was created for the soul purpose to raise awareness for Anorexia Nervosa and is timely unveiled alongside Mental Health Awareness Week.

On making the film, Harry comments, “Mental health is so important to our overall wellbeing and such a fascinating subject matter. To peer into a window of a person’s mind and have the opportunity to visually capture that is a beautiful and intimate experience. The human condition provides many facets of inspiration to me as a filmmaker.”

Protagonist Margi adds, “I have been so honoured to be a part of such a personal, beautiful and moving experience with Harry. He has portrayed my 7 year battle with anorexia beautifully. Looking back on my life I can’t believe how far I have come and where I am now. I hope to inspire others and show them it’s possible. You can free yourself from the darkness and you can find what life really is about. What a gift recovery is.”

Margi now uses social media as a platform to share her personal experiences in order to help others.
