These Eclectic Music Videos from Bacardi Encapsulate the 'Sound of Rum'

BBDO New York has announced the four winners of this year’s Bacardi Music Liberates Music campaign in partnership with Major Lazer. The winners from around the United States were hand-selected by Major Lazer and then got the incredible opportunity to have their original winning track made into a music video - which debut today.

“It’s been an honour to be selected for this contest! damsun is a passion project for us so we’ve been putting our energy into making music that we truly stand by,” said Tommy Weeks of damsun, the grand prize winner. “To be selected by Major Lazer as winners of the Bacardi Music Liberates Music competition was a totally unexpected but validating experience. We’re learning that by following our inspirations and pushing each other creatively, we can make something special.”

The campaign first kicked off in August and called for up-and-coming artists to submit their best 'Sound of Rum' inspired tracks. After an open call for submissions, 12 semi-finalists were selected and given mentorship by Major Lazer via feedback in the Soundcloud comments section – this was the first time the interface had been used in this innovative way. The artists’ tracks were updated and re-uploaded. The final four winners (determined by highest fan engagement and Major Lazer input) were given the incredible opportunity to have these music videos created in their honour.

The creative team out of BBDO New York identified four music video thematics - Dance, Narrative, Performance and Animation - and paired each winning artist with an experienced music video director to capture the theme and energy of their song in a banging music video.
