Fitzrovia Post was responsible for creating the Foley, VO records, sound design and mix

Fitzrovia Post worked to create the soundscape, mix, foley and voice records for The Tiger That Came for Tea, a charming and beloved picture book adapted for TV. Originally written by Judith Kerr, and published by HarperCollins, this children's book has been brought to life by Channel 4 Drama, Lupus Films and Robin Shaw. The Tiger That Came to Tea has gone on to win awards such as International Emmy Kids, Jury Award at Annecy Film Festival and Animated Encounters Grand Prix Awards 2020.

Fitzrovia Post was responsible for creating the Foley, VO records, sound design and mix for this magical and adored story. The clattering tea sets and iconic roars are from our talented team here at Fitzrovia.

This production boasts an all star VO cast, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, David Walliams, Tamsin Greig, Paul Whitehouse, David Owelowo, Clara Ross & song by Robbie Williams.

The Foley in particular was very elaborate for this production. The cake cutting effect was achieved by recreating our very own cake, consisting of many layers of wet newspaper (yum) and crumbly biscuits (!) in order to achieve that squidgy sound! Fitzrovia emulated the sound of Tiger fur by using a special duster - and the Tiger tipping his head back and drinking the tea was actually a mixture of using running water and a hot water bottle at the same time!  The clattering of the tea sets involved the team having great fun!

Claudia Casasola - Foley Artist: “It was great fun having an elaborate, foley heavy project we can take charge of.  From making a list of props, experimenting to see what sounds work best and having the time and opportunity to see how different layers of sound work together. Foley isn't a one person job and collaborating is where the magic happens. We all feel very lucky to have been involved in such a lovely project. The whole team had a lot of fun!”

Fitzrovia Post’s talent very much made this a team effort. Everyone pitches in to help in order to make the rich and diverse sounds that bring this animation to life.
